
Hyrul Anuar was born in Sabak Bernam, Selangor in 1988. In 2011 he finished studying BA Film & Video at the National Arts & Culture Academy.
In 2012, he joined Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur as a Graphic Designer. During his time in Leo Burnett, he was tasked with Samsung and has developed several integrated campaigns for the brand. Such notable projects for the brand are The Sparkle Project and Galaxy Wonderland. On top of that, he was chosen as a Runner Up for Young Kancil in Malaysia’s 2012 Kancil Award.
In 2013, Hyrul represented Malaysia for the Adfest Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, and won both the Young Lotus categories with his The Real Daydream Nation project.
Hyrul then received an offer to join Fabrica (United Colors of Benetton’s Communication Research Centre based in Treviso, Italy) in mid-2014 and was awarded with Fabrica’s working scholarship after producing a project called #endstatelessness for UNHCR.
